Our Story
For more than 25 years, Baraka Natural Aquarium & Zoo has been dedicated to protecting and conserving Zanzibar's unique marine and terrestrial wildlife.
What began as a small turtle rescue initiative in the heart of Nungwi has grown into one of Zanzibar's most respected conservation and environmental education centers. Over the years, we have rescued, rehabilitated, and safely returned countless injured and endangered sea turtles to their natural habitat, giving them a second chance at life.
Our mission goes beyond conservation. Every visitor who walks through our gates directly supports wildlife protection, environmental education, and sustainable tourism. We believe that unforgettable experiences can inspire people to become lifelong protectors of nature.
Working closely with local communities, government authorities, conservation experts, and international partners, we continue to preserve Zanzibar's natural heritage for future generations.
Today, Baraka welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world every year, offering them a unique opportunity to connect with rescued sea turtles while learning about the importance of protecting our oceans and wildlife.
Together, we are creating a future where people and nature thrive side by side.
To rescue, rehabilitate and protect sea turtles and wildlife while inspiring people through education, conservation and responsible tourism.
To be East Africa's leading wildlife conservation and environmental education center, where every visitor becomes an ambassador for nature.
